When Mitt Romney’s cousin, Jeff Romney, posted on Facebook that he would not support Chick-Fil-A because of the company’s anti-gay political stance, he received a whirlwind of hurtful comments from his conservative family, forcing him to remove his postings. In the meantime, the same family members freely fill their Facebook pages with materials that support their own political opinions.
“We aren’t hateful or bigots just because we stand up for our views,” said Mr. Romney’s conservative LDS Facebook-friends. This drove Mr. Romney to define the difference between political opinion and bigotry for them.
